“Every working day is a clean start” is a phrase that carries seasonal fat as we careen toward a new 12 months.

Indeed, we’re nearing a period of time when resolutions are manufactured to get rid of a distinct form of seasonal excess weight. But the cause I cited the aforementioned, implicitly hopeful, “fresh start” quote is because it’s component of a cheery, but knowingly heartfelt, mural that graces the Downtown setting up housing a standout operation: Independence a la Cart Cafe + Bakery, whose premiere in April produced a troublesome 12 months a very little superior.

Despite the fact that the “cafe + bakery” is new, Independence emerged about a decade in the past as a foodstuff cart (so a la “Cart”) that elevated dollars for and utilized survivors of human trafficking. Freedom’s compassionate mission hasn’t altered, but it’s advanced from a rotating cart and popup eatery with minimal fare to a lovely cafe with a persuasive choice of artistic, delectable and skillfully prepared bakery items, coffee beverages and brunch-model dishes.
